Before COVID-19 hit, little did we know how important delivery and takeout would become to restaurants survival. Many restaurants were not set up to do takeout or online ordering. With government shutdowns, life in the restaurant industry had to change. Casual and fine dining restaurants needed to do a lot of pivoting if they wanted to continue to keep their doors open.
Wherever your restaurant stands now, we can all agree that digital and off-premise are here to stay even as the Covid pandemic calms down.
In a recent Toast article guests were surveyed and reported that there would be no change to their dining preferences if restaurants reopen and resume on-premise dining. But a portion of respondents shared that they would be ordering takeout and delivery more than they were prior to COVID-19.
15% of guests reported that they would be ordering takeout more, while 12% of guests reported that they would be ordering takeout significantly more. 13% of guests reported that they would be ordering delivery more, while 10% of guests reported that they would be ordering delivery significantly more.
Only one main difference stands out and that is safety and cleanliness must now be a top priority. In this same Toast article it was mentioned that quality of food was most important to guests when ordering or having food delivered.
With quality of food being so important it’s up to the restaurant management to make sure food is being prepared and packaged correctly. Don’t let food items go out cold or without utensils. Your restaurant will only survive if your guests return and refer. Let us at The Hart Experience give you a guests perspective of your TAKEOUT process.
